Uganda wildlife safari to Murchison falls and Rhino Tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

The 3 Days Murchison Falls safari will include a boat trip, a hike to the top of the falls, a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and an amazing game drive to it. The park was named after the spectacular 43 meters high Murchison Falls that were formed due to an outburst of water from world’s longest river rising through a 7 meter gorge into the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. Dominated by the vegetation in the northern region of the park and flourishing borassus grassland, which has attracted various animals, different types of animals as you shall see.

Day 1: Head to Murchison Falls National Park & Visit the top of the Falls
Day 2: Boat Ride and Game Drive
Day 3: Head to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and then Back to Kampala

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Head to Murchison Falls National Park & Visit the top of the falls

After an early breakfast after breakfast, you will depart from Kampala to northwestern Uganda you will have lunch in Masindi town before continuing to the largest National Park in Uganda. As you enter the park, the first amazing sight that you will take up in this National Park is the visit to the top of the falls. You will later check in at the lodge depending on your budget as planned.

Day 2: Boat Ride and Game Drive

On having breakfast, you will set out on an early game drive through the plains of the park to see the many animals inhabiting there such as Elephants, Buffalos, Lions and Giraffes to mention but a few. The Black Chested Snake Eagle, Marshal Eagles Carmine, Swallow Tailed Bee-Eaters and the Secretary Bird are some of the many bird species that are in this park. After lunch you will have a boat ride to the point where the Nile pours out into Lake Albert or alternatively cruise to the bottom of Murchison Falls to view the thunderous waters of the Nile burst out of a 7 meter gorge.

The flowing Nile is a haven of Africa’s largest crocodile and hippopotami population, and a variety of stunning water birds like the rare shoebill stork. On the banks of the Nile you will see big hippos and giant crocodiles in the water and many other animals lazily grazing. That will be all for the day and after that, you will head back to the lodge, relax and have dinner.

Day 3: Head to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and then Back to Kampala

Enjoy an early breakfast and you will head straight to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and visit the beautiful Rhinos and learn a thing or two about these beautiful creatures. This sanctuary was established for breeding white and black rhinos and to reinstate the once endangered species which faced a lot of poaching in the 1980’s you will drive back to Kampala where you will spend the night. Immediately after tracking the Rhinos, you will drive back to Kampala.
