Safari Itinerary: Uganda mountain gorilla trek and Chimpanzee tracking 10 days

BRIEF ITINERARY

Day 1: Kampala – Kibale Forest (450 km approx. 5-6 hours).
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi swamp walk
Day 3: Kibale – Queen Elizabeth Wildlife park National Park. (Approx. 3-4 hours drive)
Day 4: Wildlife Tour Queen Elizabeth Park.
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. (Approx. 4 hours drive).
Day 7: Bwindi – Lake Mburo National Park. (Approx. 6.5 hours drive).
Day 8: Lake Mburo – Kampala – Entebbe.
Day 9: Ngamba Island Tour.
Day 10: Departure

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Kampala – Kibale Forest (450 km approx. 5-6 hours).
You will set off for an afternoon arrival in Kibale Forest National Park. The 1 st day of the safari will start from Kampala to Kibale were you will do you 1 st activity of Chimpanzee tracking. However, the adventure will enable you see the large primate family that comprises of the Red tailed Monkey, blue-black faced Red Colobus, Black and white Colobus monkeys, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, the mountain gorillas and the world sought chimpanzees. After lunch you will enjoy a fascinating chimpanzee tracking in the Park observing how they respond to humans, look after their young ones, and feed.

This National park is a known habitat with the biggest number of varying species of primates on the African continent like Chimpanzees and Red Tailed monkey.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi swamp walk
After breakfast you will embark on you fast all exclusive tracking of chimps. At the starting point, you will be briefed on what to expect as you will encounter the chimps and other exciting animals as mentioned above. You will be back in time for lunch at the Lodge where you will take a break and later in the evening you will enjoy an evening guided trek through Bigodi Wetland. End the day with you relaxing back at the lodge dinner and over night at the lodge of your budget as we shall have organized for you.

Day 3: Kibale – Queen Elizabeth Wildlife park National Park. (Approx. 3-4 hours drive)
You will set off to Queen Elizabeth National Park after having your breakfast. The National Park prides in its varying landscapes ranging from the open Savannah, Rain Forests, the impenetrable Papyrus Swamps, with crater later lakes and most of all the magnificent Lake Edward, not for getting the splendid wildlife in the Park are: Primates which include Chimpanzees, Olive Baboons, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Red Tailed monkey, Red Colobus and the Black and white Colobus monkeys; Various animal species like lions, elephants, leopards, spotted hyenas and hippopotami; More than 300 species of birds such as Black Chested Eagle, the Swallow Tailed Bee Eaters, Reptiles such as amazing huge Rock-Python, Puff adders, Spitting Cobras, Gabon Rippers and the Green Mambas.

The drive/ journey will take an approximated time of 3-4 hours filled with sightseeing of course different unique kind of wildlife and finally arrive in Queen Elizabeth National Park in the afternoon, just in time for lunch. You will relax for a while and after word you will enjoy a sun down game drive in the National Park that will wide up the day.

Day 4: Wildlife Tour Queen Elizabeth Park
Go Chimp tracking in Kyambura gorge every early in the morning of course immediately after having a cup of coffee or just worm tea. After the trek, you will return for the real breakfast at the lodge. After chilling out at the lodge, you will set out for a boat tour on the Kazinga Channel were you will spot buffalos dawdling in the shallow waters, hippos puff and spew just meters away from your boat and so many beautiful birds on the shores not to mention but a few.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. (Approx. 4 hours drive).
Today is the transfer from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi National Park. This transfer is usually encountered with a game drive as you head to National Park also known as the sanctuary for Mountain Gorillas and various bird species that graze in Montane Forest; it has 23 of the 24 Albertine Rift endemics including the African Green Broadbill and other beautiful forest species. At the park you will have an optional nature trek to the Munyaga waterfalls were you will spot various primates linger by the falls. The day will end with you spending the night with in the National Park. Dinner will be served as you will await the excitement that awaits you the next day. Relax for the next dat.

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking Safari – Batwa Cultural walk
Earlier than usual you will set off immediately after breakfast for an exciting 4- 6 hours Mountain Gorilla Tracking in the jungle, carrying along your lunch boxes and equipment to use in tracking the unusual Mountain Gorilla; for which there are only 650 remaining all over the world. You will be accompanied by a number park guides who will construe the Flora and Fauna of the vegetation and the lifestyle of the Gorillas, you will have quite a awe-inspiring experience. After a while, you will rest and have your picnic lunch which you will have brought along for the Trek. After the trek, you will head back to the lodge to rest for the day has been long as you wait for dinner at the lodge that your budget could accommodate.

Day 7: Bwindi – Lake Mburo National Park. (Approx. 6.5 hours drive).
Next after breakfast you will drive through the Switzerland of Uganda- Kabale which has a very artistic sight presented by the terraced farms on its hills and in the afternoon arrive at Lake Mburo National Park. Being an extension of the Tanzanian Plains, Lake Mburo is habitat to Zebras, Impala and Eland, and boasts of various species of birds like the African Fin Foot; its landscape dotted with papyrus and Bush Shrike. After lunch, have an optional boat trip or unwind in your cool rooms then later in the evening enjoy an evening game drive.

Day 8: Lake Mburo – Kampala – Entebbe
You will enjoy a game drive before heading to Kampala through Entebbe. On your way you will notice a number of other interesting things like the Royal drum makers in the Buganda Kingdom one of the many and prominent kingdoms in Uganda. You will at the same time stand at the Equator which divides the earth into two hemispheres. You will be in Entebbe in the late evening, relax, wind down ang wait for the next day.

Day 9: Ngamba Island Tour
At around 10 am after you have enjoyed a well prepared breakfast, you will set off from Entebbe dock for a boat ride to Ngamba Island which was specifically set up as a home for orphaned chimps, and later return in the evening. Guests are only consented to spot these chimps when they are feeding that is at 11am and 8pm.

Day 10: Departure
After breakfast you will be driven to Entebbe International for your flight back home.
